Memorial Day Weekend- my take

Josh left our poor helpless little family to take a MAN trip this last weekend. The kids and I did not sit around sulking. We headed straight down to San Diego and stayed at my cousin Skye’s house. Jon and Skye treated us like royalty they took us to the ice cream shop, made us delicious food, an even used their guest passes to get us into the zoo. It happened to be the opening of the new elephant odyssey, which was impressive. Caleb and Sequoia stayed in that exhibit alone for over an hour. With the exception of a lost car keys incident (thank God for honest people who turned my keys in) it was so relaxing and fun. On Sunday morning we met up with Josh’s dad and brother and sister. We ate at Mimi’s Cafe and then went to the park right on Mission Bay. We had lots of fun on the swings and playing in the sand but the best part was watching a local fisherman catch a huge stingray! I don’t think I will be swimming in that water anytime soon. We topped the weekend off with a big family BBQ at my parents house with lots of our favorite people there. On another post I will let you in on of what Josh’s weekend looked like.

Spring Break at the farm

Okay… so it’s not a traditional farm. Knott’s Berry Farm was calling out to us last week during spring break. We had a great time with my cousin Skye and her family. Tip: I am not sure if it was the best idea to take four year old boys to the Western Stunt Show. The rest of the day they were play fighting only they didn’t get the “stunt or pretend” part. Good Times.

Today we went to the Riverside Air Show. It was a lot of fun. We got there pretty early in the morning and stayed all day. My favorite planes were the F-16 jets. I love that feeling the loud sound gives you! Caleb liked those too but in more of an “after the fact” kind of way. He calls them the “dirty planes” for the way their jet engines make the air behind them look. Here are a couple pics.

Operation Fit Two Kids

In case you didn’t know our house is small and has only two bedrooms. The time has come to move Joelle out of our room and have both kids in the same room. This would normally be easy except that Caleb had a bed with a slide and he also had a sea of toys. No joke, since Caleb’s birthday and Christmas we have not seen the floor. Josh and I spent an entire day going through toys and reconfiguring the furniture arrangements to come up with this ideal set up (with out buying any new furniture that is). Operation Fit Two Kids is complete.

Notice Josh's handy work in transforming the bed slide into a ladder. Amazing!

You may have noticed that the bedroom is still a pirate theme. I guess Jo will have to be a pirate wench for now.
